Have you seen these beautiful images taken by the James Webb Telescope? They are fascinating! Did you know they are images of a galaxy cluster as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago! We aren’t sure that we can wrap our heads around what that means exactly… but we are still so amazed by it!
This is probably a similar feeling your child might have when they first start English. It’s all so new and hard to understand but exciting! So our question to you is, would you stop showing them the universe and only show them one star to help them understand exactly what they are seeing? We wouldn’t! In fact, that may make us lose interest!
To us, this is what a lot of English conversation schools gear their classes toward. The lesson’s goal is to understand EVERYTHING. We know how important understanding is for improvement however we don’t think they need to understand everything. In fact, learning to communicate WHILE not understanding everything is essential in speaking another language.
Our recommended book this week is The Lost Stars by Hannah Cumming. This darling book is a thought-provoking journey of a group of kids who have set out to find the Lost Stars. Children love to learn about the universe we live in but being billions of years away sometimes it can be hard to relate to our everyday lives. This book allows children the opportunity to feel that strong connection and hopefully nurture a sense of gratitude for this world we call home.
