Is there a time when we should just throw in the towel? Wave the white flag? It seems organizers of the Tokyo Olympics have postponed announcing the results of a lottery to determine which ticketholders can attend the opening and closing ceremonies as well as some matches. It seems to us that spectators at the Olympics are a lost cause. At what point do we give up?
This is a good question to ask yourself when learning a language as well. We aren’t saying give up completely, as even the most untalented students have every right to continue their journey, but we all have to be aware of what works for us and what doesn’t. Here at the Transposed Classroom, we work on extensive reading with students but we really encourage and push our students to try new things at home and share it with us on our apps. Doing what pleases you is very important (for motivation) but if you aren’t getting the results you need or want, trying something new is just as important.
We’re thinking spectators at the Olympics need to be reconsidered…
