Children’s Curiosity

I recently read an article about how parents, and perhaps teachers as well, need to develop their children’s curiosity in order to survive in the rapidly changing world that we live in these days.  Being a teacher, I cannot turn my back on the fact that learning something takes a lot of practice/study and hard work, particularly on the portions that you may not be very good at, but I wholeheartedly agree that it takes just as much curiosity. If you want your child to continue and especially if you want them to excel in English, I think it takes creativity on the parents’ / teachers’ side to find their child’s / students’ curiosity.

Today was our reading day.  These elementary school students work hard to read in a completely different language. It’s quite impressive!

Recently a student changed levels. For me, it wasn’t because he was a lot weaker than the others. All the students have different personalities and being able to work together with the parents, as a small online English school, to find the best placement and manner of study is one of the greatest advantages. And it’s constantly fluctuating! Families and teachers need to be attentive and communicate to get the most out of the lessons and at-home work.

English study is not just black and white. No one has all the answers but effort from all sides never fails.  In today’s lesson, I could tell that we had made the right decision for this particular student.
