Japan has entered another State of Emergency in three prefectures in Japan. The same day many elementary school students went back to school after their winter vacation. There must be a lot of different emotions welling up. Everyone must be worried about the virus but parents may also be worried about daycare while children must be excited to see their friends. It’s a difficult situation and we hope that it gets better soon!
This week the Transposed Classroom also started back with our online classes. It was nice to not only see the Standard Plan and Self Study students “in-person” but also see the activity of the App Plan students increase. It’s so nice to be able to smoothly start our lessons again without the worry of the Coronavirus.
Many of the students are planning on taking the Eiken test on January 24th. Many of them will be taking it for the first time as well. What I really enjoyed seeing is the excitement on their face. One student excitedly showed me his prep test booklet that he bought with his mom.
There are a lot of people that criticize studying for the Eiken test because these students are so young and should just be enjoying themselves in English! But the Transposed Classroom makes sure to tell students that they are not studying to pass the test but rather use it as a measure. We are studying to communicate in English but occasionally if we challenge ourselves to pass a standardized test it can give us motivation and an idea of where we are on the English ladder!
